ORLANDO, Fla. (June 21, 2007) – FAIRWINDS Credit Union formally dedicated its new
corporate headquarters in downtown Orlando on June 20 with President/CEO Larry Tobin presenting Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer with a key to the vault and making a $25,000 donation to the Dr. P. Phillips Orlando Performing Arts Center. In return, Mayor Dyer declared it “FAIRWINDS Credit Union Day” in the City of Orlando.
“Things are definitely looking up in downtown Orlando, not just for FAIRWINDS, but for all of the residents and business partners in this exceptional community,” Tobin remarked at the June 20 dedication. “As this business district continues to grow, we are looking forward to creating valuable partnerships to help support the growth of downtown Orlando.”
FAIRWINDS relocated its headquarters from east Orange County to the former SouthTrust Bank building at 135 West Central Boulevard in September 2006. The move put the financial cooperative in the geographic center of its market and firmly established the FAIRWINDS name on the downtown Orlando skyline.
FAIRWINDS Credit Union (www.fairwinds.org) is the largest financial institution based in Central Florida, with assets approaching $1.5 billion, more than 134,000 members and just under 600 employees. Headed by President and CEO Larry Tobin, the financial cooperative established in 1949 is open to anyone living or working in Orange, Seminole, Volusia, Osceola, Polk, Brevard or Lake counties, as well members’ families who live outside the seven-county region.
