October 27, 2009

At a recent board meeting, the Dr. P. Phillips Orlando Performing Arts Center elected three new members to its board of directors; Cheryl Henry, Chuck Steinmetz and Bryce West. Henry, Steinmetz and West come from diverse backgrounds with experience and passion for the arts that will help guide the design, building and operations of a new performing arts center in downtown Orlando.

“We are honored to have such passionate members join the board. Cheryl, Chuck and Bryce each brings a unique set of skills and experiences to the table that will enhance the impact of the already established board of directors,” said performing arts center Chairman Jim Pugh.

Cheryl Henry is the current vice president of corporate affairs for Ruth’s Hospitality Group, Inc. and vice chair of the Mayor’s Citizens Oversight Committee. In 2008, Henry was recognized by the Orlando Business Journal as one of Orlando’s “Forty Under Forty.” Also, Henry has played a crucial role in the business development and management for government, community and public relations domestically and internationally as former chief of staff for Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer.

Chuck Steinmetz is a Florida native and private business owner. An active member of the Central Florida community, Steinmetz has dedicated more than 20 years on the board of the Rollins College Crummer School of Business. He has also served as Chairman and CEO for the Orlando Science Center. He and his wife Lynn are advocates of the local arts, having already made a $1 million gift to the performing arts center.

Bryce West is a California native with great enthusiasm for the classical performing arts. He has been supporting the arts through volunteerism, subscriptions and donations throughout his life. Since moving to Orlando in 2002, West is on the board of the Orlando Philharmonic and has a vision and desire to help provide a new state-of-the-art venue in which all live performing arts can be experienced.
