News & Events That Shape the Dr. P. Phillips Orlando Performing Arts Center

From the Team

We have been busy over the past few months and have a tremendous amount of news to share!

July signified completion of schematic design, the building design was revealed in August, and we are now two months into design development. The fundraising capital campaign has kicked off officially, and activity around our study model is bustling. The performing arts center staff continues to grow and we're already looking towards groundbreaking in 2009. We are right on schedule, and the excitement continues to build.

Walt Disney World's Gift for Music performance

We extend very special thanks to those who braved the rain and winds of Tropical Storm Fay to attend the unveiling event on August 22. Over 325 people walked through our doors to see the design and celebrate a huge milestone for Central Florida --a true testament of support and genuine anticipation of this project. We also thank our wonderful sponsors who worked diligently to create such a memorable celebration:

Freeman Decorators, Planet Hollywood, Cort Furniture, Walt Disney World Co., Barnie's Coffee & Tea Company, KC & Company, Greenery Productions, Kirby Rentals, Baker Barrios Architects, Jack Jennings & Sons, Caylex, ABS, Maxim Crane Works, TLC Engineering, Nodarse & Associates, Winter Park Blue

Driving rain and squalls hindered the dedication of the first element of the project on site. Right where the front door of the performing arts center will be located, a 100-foot flagpole with its billowing orange and white "2012" flag stands as a proud reminder of when we will open our doors. At the base of the flagpole, a tribute honors elected officials, early donors, founding and current board members, performing arts partners, and many more advocates and supporters who made the Dr. P. Phillips Orlando Performing Arts Center a reality through their unyielding support. We encourage you to come by and take a look.

Last, but not least, if you have visited us on the Web recently you noticed our fresh look. As we continue to develop the brand for your community gathering place, we will continue to keep you informed and invite your participation. Please visit us often at www.orlandopac.org.
