Construction Manager At Risk Ranking

The procurement committee ranked Balfour Beatty Construction first of three firms shortlisted as the project’s Construction Manager At Risk (CM). The committee noted the company’s strong track record of completing projects on time and within budget, as well as their passion for and understanding of the project.

Balfour Beatty’s portfolio includes performing arts centers in the state of Florida such as the News-Journal Center in Daytona Beach, Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center in Tampa, and Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts in Jacksonville.

Once the project team completes negotiations, the contract will go before City Council for final approval.

The procurement committee is a publicly appointed committee established to oversee the public procurement process required for the selection of the production architect and construction manager at risk for the performing arts center project. Committee members include: Jim Pugh, chairman of the procurement committee and board of directors, Tim Ackert, project director for the Orlando Venues Project Office, Roger Chapin, vice president of public affairs for Mears Transportation Group, Janeiro Coulter, special projects manager for the Orlando Venues Project Office, and Royce Walden, a retired educator and investment banker with a strong history of service to the Orlando community.
