Multi-form Theater: Stage View
Multi-form Theater: Balcony View
The performing arts center was re-launched with the exciting unveiling of the interior renderings of the three theaters. Design architect Barton Myers' vision was to design and create unique environments for each theater.
"The interiors bring the magnificence of the center to life," said Chairman Jim Pugh.
The 2,700± seat Disney Theater is the largest of the three designed for amplified performances. Inspired by classic outdoor theaters, the blue side walls and ceiling simulate an evening sky. The design also references some of the most successful theaters by offering exceptional sightlines with tiered seating close to the stage.
The 1,700± seat Multi-form Theater is an intimate and warm room that will transform its shape and acoustics toaccommodate symphony, opera and ballet. The natural acoustics will rival the world’s best concert and opera halls. Rich materials such as wood and metallic combined with the curved and continuous balconies enhance the room’s sense of intimacy and grandeur.
The 300± seat Community Theater is designed for local and emerging arts groups and the University of Central Florida’s performing arts program. It is a horseshoe configuration with a thrust stage to accommodate different performance genres. Balcony facades are aluminum with specks of glass to create the illusion of sparkling stars. Bright colored art work adorns the ceiling and the seats bringing energy to the theater.
"The exterior of the center is a crowning architectural statement for Orlando, but the interiors are the jewels in the crown," said President Kathy Ramsberger.
