Destination: Orlando When the Dr. Phillips Center opens its doors, that one defining moment will usher in a new era for our region. Imagine a vibrant urban destination where people come to dine, shop, socialize, play, work, and most notably enjoy the performing arts.

Stage 1 Recognizing the impact of the challenging economic climate, the Dr. Phillips Center board of directors studied alternative approaches to the project and master plan. The effort was to identify greater efficiencies and savings, while preserving the commitment to the mission of the performing arts center and integrity of the design.

It was determined, in 2009 that the project would be best brought to life through a staged construction schedule. The program for Stage 1 includes: 2 of the 3 theaters (the 2,700-seat Disney Theater and the 300-seat Jim & Alexis Pugh Community Theater); the main lobby entry and rotunda; the main banquet room; and the outdoor performance plaza.

Construction drawings for the entire project have been completed. Construction is expected to take approximately three years to complete Stage 1.

The commencement of construction for Stage 2 is being evaluated.
