ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Warmth, light, and inspiration from everything under the sun—that’s the power of Butcher Brown’s “solar music,” the aptly-named descriptor for their expansive, genre-defying sound. A seamless hybrid of jazz, hip-hop, rock, funk, R&B, alternative, soul, country, house, bossa nova and pop, Butcher Brown makes music that’s never boxed in, but always forward-thinking.

With roots in Richmond, Virginia, friends and bandmates Corey Fonville (drums), Andrew Randazzo (bass), Morgan Burrs (guitar), Marcus “Tennishu” Tenney (trumpet, saxophone, vocals) and Devonne “DJ Harrison” Harris (multi-instrumentalist) have been releasing music since 2013. Since then, they’ve secured their status as jazz festival favorites, touring with bands such as Galactic, Lettuce and Kamasi Washington, and have even been featured in their own NPR Tiny Desk Concert.
