ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Get ready for a night at the opera unlike any other. Tunde Akinboboye, known artistically as Babatunde HipHopera, is a visionary opera singer who has pioneered a bold fusion of traditional opera and hip-hop. Born in the U.S. and raised in Nigeria, Babatunde brings a rich cultural perspective to his work, blending classical technique with contemporary expression to create a genre he calls HipHopera.

Babatunde’s musical journey began in high school, where his passion for classical music was ignited in a choir class. Despite navigating racial and artistic barriers, he achieved notable success in traditional opera. However, his drive to make classical music more accessible and culturally relevant led him to innovate HipHopera—a genre that challenges the boundaries of both opera and hip-hop, bridging cultural divides and resonating with a diverse, modern audience.

Recognized as a formidable talent, Babatunde has performed at renowned venues and collaborated with leading artists and orchestras. His performances, often going viral, are distinguished by their powerful operatic vocals seamlessly integrated with hip-hop beats, captivating audiences and critics alike.

Now based in Los Angeles, Babatunde continues to push artistic boundaries. His highly anticipated debut full-length album, set to release in February 2025, is poised to further establish his influence as a trailblazer in the music industry. As he embarks on new projects and performances, Babatunde remains dedicated to transforming the musical landscape for the 21st century.
