ABOUT THE ARTISTS
After four decades in music, Branford Marsalis is still setting the pace. Known as one of jazz’s most virtuosic bandleaders, this award-winning, in-demand multi-instrumentalist, composer and educator crosses stylistic boundaries while racking up achievements across diverse musical platforms, from film to television to Broadway. Fresh off a European tour with his quartet, Branford brings us his world-class improvisation and renowned compositions.
While primarily known for his work as the leader of the Branford Marsalis Quartet, Branford also performs frequently as a soloist with classical ensembles and has led the group Buckshot LeFonque. Branford has won three Grammy Awards, a Tony nomination for his work as a composer on Broadway, a citation by the National Endowment for the Arts as Jazz Master and a 2021 Primetime Emmy nomination for the score he composed for the Tulsa Burning documentary. He's also recently composed film scores (Netflix's Rustin and Murder That Matter) and performed with Yo-Yo Ma, James Taylor and Eric Revis. He also spent a period touring with Sting, collaborated with the Grateful Dead and Bruce Hornsby, served as Musical Director of The Tonight Show starring Jay Leno and hosted National Public Radio’s widely syndicated Jazz Set.
