ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Hear a rare gem in all its glory as living legend Robert Callender brings his 1970s masterpiece Le Musée de L'Impressionnisme to Orlando—and only Orlando—in this special 50th anniversary show. Once a best-kept secret amongst hardcore vinyl collectors, Robert’s eccentric psych-funk, prog-rock concept album pays homage to French impressionism, featuring his lush arrangements, string ensembles and soulful melodies.
Robert is considered a mystical figure of late ‘60s and early ‘70s psychedelic and prog-rock, and his once-obscure discography has since become a celebrated rarity for crate-diggers and rare music aficionados. Le Musée de L'Impressionnisme is quite rare, indeed; at the time of its release, small batches of the record were only distributed in the Netherlands.
Prior to Le Musée de L'Impressionnisme, Robert’s two prog-rock albums, Rainbow and The Way, were ventures into psychedelic realms, draped in Indian raga elements, sitar-infused soundscapes and experimental arrangements as Robert explored Eastern philosophy, mysticism and the counterculture of the 1960s.
Today, Robert’s music holds a cult classic status, cementing him as a pioneering figure in progressive, psychedelic and avant-garde music.
