Arts for Every Life:

The Arts Impact Memory Loss Patients

A couple years ago with our partner AdventHealth, we developed and executed an 18-month clinical research study on how the performing arts may impact memory loss patients and their caregivers.

The collective findings have produced significant positive results. The program—which served almost 50 pairs of caregivers and people with memory loss—involved a series of interactive theater games, movement exercises and performances.

Key findings—observed and concluded by AdventHealth clinicians—included:

  • Reduced burden felt by the caregiver
  • Increase in caregiver resiliency
  • Improved interactions between the caregiver & care recipient
  • Improved quality of life for the care recipient
