Dr. Phillips Center Givebacks Provide Access to Broadway Tours & More
How Giveback initiatives Connect the Community to Orlando's Arts & Culture Scene
Dr. Phillips Center hosts, supports and fundraises to provide many Community Giveback opportunities throughout the year. Alongside partners and donors, these special events focus on creating unique experiences for guests from all walks of life. Since 2017, the Community Giveback initiative has engaged over 9,000 individuals from more than 130 diverse groups, including students, teachers, veterans, first responders many other organizations.
For many attendees, this is their first exposure to live theater, or a production of Broadway caliber and these Community Givebacks provide a gateway into the arts and culture scene in Orlando. Furthermore, the arts can be a powerful thing for an individual to experience, as it promotes creativity and can spark a new interest in someone’s life.
Take a look at the impact of the Wicked Community Giveback which included 500 beneficiaries. The experience included transportation, a delicious catered lunch, fun activities and souvenir swag bags.
The arts center recently hosted a giveback for Broadway’s MAMMA MIA! inviting 80 students from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida to experience the ultimate feel-good show. The special guests enjoyed a night with light bites and refreshments—it was a memorable night, made possible with the support of our community partner VyStar.
“This initiative perfectly aligns with our mission to Do Good and support the youth in our community,” VyStar SVP/Florida Market President, Lysa Barbano shared. “We understand the profound impact that access to the arts and theater can have on our children's lives. It was an incredible night!”
