Student Spotlight: Connor Neun

“My favorite aspect of the performing arts is being able to move the audience through your storytelling,” 18-year-old Connor Neun said. “Being able to embody a character is something that's truly a life-changing experience.”

A student at our AdventHealth School of the Arts since his senior year of high school, Connor especially enjoyed getting involved in our Applause Awards program, supported by AdventHealth. It’s a celebration of all things musical theater for high school productions all over Central Florida.

“One of my favorite experiences at the Dr. Phillips Center has been performing in the Applause Awards the last three years—the first two years as a student, and this year as an alumnus,” he said. “The Applause Awards are a great way to meet people and see all the amazing talent Central Florida has to offer.”

He also joined our elite performance group, The Four Counts, supported by AdventHealth—and is now working on our latest production, West Side Story. You can catch him starring as Tony on August 6 or 7 in Walt Disney Theater.

“My favorite part of the school is the amazing faculty you get to work with,” he said. “The members of the education team are incredibly knowledgeable and eager to provide students with every opportunity possible.”

Connor added, “The performing arts have been a part of my life for almost as long as I can remember. Whether it's singing in an elementary school choir concert or putting on a full-scale musical production, I've always been drawn to the arts. I've followed my passion through to college, pursuing a BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Florida. Without the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, I know I wouldn't be where I am today—and for that, I am incredibly grateful.”

And we’re incredibly grateful to work with students as driven and talented as Connor. We’re thrilled to see him sharpen his skills to the fullest at UF.
