Student Spotlight:

Student Spotlight: Joseph Trewin

“My favorite part about the [AdventHealth School of the Arts] is the family that you make. Everyone here is so loving, supportive and caring. It really is like a second home to me,” Joseph Trewin said.

The now-19-year-old started taking classes here at the Dr. Phillips Center in January 2020—and has been busy ever since as part of our Four Counts performance group, supported by AdventHealth.

“I love learning about every aspect of performing, Joseph said. “But I think acting is what really fascinates me the most. Singing has always come the easiest for me, but learning how to act through a song and captivate an audience is what I find most essential to a strong performance.”

He’s also participated in our youth theater productions of The Hunchback of Notre Dame and West Side Story, and most recently starred as Buddy the Elf in Elf The Musical—all of which were supported by AdventHealth.

“The performing arts have completely changed my life,” Joseph added. “Performing is the one thing that makes me feel like myself. When I am on the stage, all of my worries in life fade away. I could not imagine my life without it.”
