Student Spotlight:

Student Spotlight: Matthew Reinert

Since coming to our AdventHealth School of the Arts last year, 14-year-old Matthew Reinert has certainly taken our stage by storm.

As a company member of our Quarter Notes performance group, supported by AdventHealth, he was part of the choir in our youth theater production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Then he joined our casts for Ragtime, West Side Story and most recently Elf in November. (All productions supported by AdventHealth.)

“My favorite experience here at the Dr. Phillips Center was definitely the Elf performances,” Matthew said. “I was able to bond so much with so much of the cast and I hope to keep in touch with as many of them as possible now that the show is over.”

Matthew has also participated in our popular summer program, Take It From The Top, where serious students sharpen their skills to become true triple threats.

“My favorite aspect of the performing arts is how it's like an escape from reality,” he said. “You get the opportunity to have so many experiences, meet so many people and learn so many things that you wouldn't learn otherwise. I get to explore becoming tons of different characters, singing and dancing at the same time.”

Matthew added: “I can't even say how much the performing arts have impacted my life as a whole. I would be a completely different person today without it. I've made so many memories through it, all my thoughts are theater, and it's my way of expression. I hope to pursue the arts for as long as I can in the future.”

We hope so, too, Matthew—and we’re excited to keep watching you perform.
