Student Spotlight:

Student Spotlight: Mekiah Thomas

A student at our AdventHealth School of the Arts since spring 2019, Mekiah Thomas has had some pretty incredible experiences so far.

“It’s made me a lot more confident in myself,” Mekiah said. “I love all of the people I get to meet, and the amazing instructors.”

From working with acting veterans during Hit The Heights Broadway Week, to training with our Quarter Notes performance group, to putting on a professional-quality production of Les Misérables this summer—the 12-year-old is absorbing all things musical theater.

“I love how connected the performing arts community is,” Mekiah said. “I love knowing that if you meet someone in a class or production, that most likely your paths will cross and you will get the chance to perform with them again.”

On top of performing at the Dr. Phillips Center, she loves coming to see Broadway shows, too—including Hamilton, Wicked, Aladdin and The Lion King.

Up next for Mekiah?

She plans to dive back into The Quarter Notes this fall. Plus, she’s excited to audition for Ragtime, another one of our youth theater productions supported by AdventHealth.
