ABOUT THE ARTIST

Tal Cohen is a Grammy Award-winning jazz pianist, winner of the Barry Harris National Piano Competition and recipient of the prestigious Freedman Fellowship. His album Gentle Giants received international acclaim, including a 4-star review from Downbeat Magazine. Cohen has become one of the most in-demand pianists today as he continues to tour the globe with his unique blend of Jewish melodies, traditional jazz harmony and an impeccable rhythmic palette. His 2023 album The Art of Duo showcases the unique relationship and musical dynamic that he and trumpeter John Daversa embody when playing as a duo. Their keen sense of knowing when to push, lift, embellish and harmonize together seems to be an instinctual response, exclusive to the pair’s aura and energy.

Tal Cohen's ensemble featuring Ignacio Berroa has performed at iconic jazz festivals and venues, including Jazzbez Jazz Festival (Ukraine), Detroit Jazz Festival and Melbourne Jazz Festival (Australia), as well a three-night residency at the Black Cat (San Fransisco). Ignacio Berroa, a leading innovator in the blending of Afro-Cuban and American jazz styles, has been recognized as one of the greatest drummers of our time and has supported a wide spectrum of the very top names in jazz, including Dizzy Gillespie, McCoy Tyner, Chick Corea, Wynton Marsalis, Freddie Hubbard, Charlie Haden and Gonzalo Rubalcaba.
