18th Annual Dancing for Diabetes

November 10 | Bob Carr Theater

Central Florida’s premier annual dance performance event that not only showcases a vast array of dancers from across the region but also benefits the Florida nonprofit, Dancing for Diabetes.

The multi-hour show features award-winning and nationally-recognized performers from across Central Florida who come together to create an unforgettable evening of entertainment and hope. Performers dazzle with a succession of dance performances presented in a variety of exciting and innovative styles … hip-hop, jazz, lyrical, tap, high kick and more. Special performances include “Kids with Diabetes” – a powerful group presentation by an assembly of Central Florida children with Type 1 Diabetes – as well as other energetic and engaging acts performed by hundreds of children and young adults from dance studios and K-12 dance programs from across the region.

Individually, each dance group exemplifies Central Florida’s thriving arts community, and collectively, the hundreds of dancers champion Dancing for Diabetes’ efforts to stir the hearts of those affected by Type 1 Diabetes.

Dancing for Diabetes is a nonprofit organization dedicated to utilizing the art of dance to better educate the community, raise funds to find a cure, and inspire those with diabetes to live healthy and active lives. The Dancing for Diabetes nonprofit grew out of an annual dance show that ten-year-old Elizabeth Forrest initiated shortly after she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Today, 18 years later, the dance show is just one of many events that Dancing for Diabetes undertakes throughout the year to procure funding towards research for the disease that affects over 29 million Americans.   Dancing for Diabetes truly is an unforgettable evening of nonstop entertainment for everyone!
