Volunteer

Do good. And have fun doing it.

Our passionate volunteers donate their time and energy to create memorable experiences for every guest here at the Dr. Phillips Center. They also help make our vision, Arts For Every Life®, a reality every day.

Interested in joining our volunteer family? Check out some of the roles our volunteers serve below:

USHER
You’ll read guests’ tickets, then guide them to the correct row and seat. During the show, you’ll stand in the back watching the audience—ready to help anyone arriving late or leaving early—to ensure a positive experience by minimizing distractions. You may be required to stand for long periods of time, climb stairs and work in areas with dim lighting.

LOBBY INTERACTOR
You’ll assist guests with things like directions and amenities. You’ll also guide them to alternative areas when certain spots become too congested. During the show, some lobby interactors help the ushers—while others stay in the lobby to help guests arriving late or leaving early.

TICKET-SCANNER
You’ll greet guests as they enter, use a handheld device to scan tickets and then give directions to door locations. Once the show starts, you may be asked to help in other areas.

LUMINARY AMBASSADOR
In the lobby or entry area, you’ll help spread awareness of our annual luminary donor program and other opportunities to support the arts center. Once the show starts, you may be asked to help in other areas.

ENJOY THESE GREAT PERKS, TOO:

  • Volunteer appreciation week
  • Annual training sessions and networking opportunities
  • Colleague-to-colleague recognition
  • Opportunities to apply for tickets and show vouchers
