Our youth theater production of the summer, Mean Girls: High School Version brings the blockbuster story to life just for teenagers. Follow the journey of Cady Heron as she navigates the complexities of high school cliques with searing humor, iconic characters and unforgettable lessons about friendship and authenticity. (And don’t worry. You can totally sit with us.)

Eric Quang Gelb – Director

Eric Quang Gelb (He/Him) is a commercial musical theatre, live branded entertainment & theatre for young audiences director. He believes that access to high-quality and diverse musical theatre pre-professional education makes humanity smarter, stronger and more empathetic.

Broadway/Off-Broadway: HAMILTON (SDCF Resident Director Shadow), Head Over Heels, Little Shop of Horrors (co-producer), WICKED Intern, 53% Of and Patience (Company Manager, 2nd Stage Theatre). Regional Directing: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Round Barn Theatre), Matilda (Dr. Phillips Center), James & the Giant Peach (Virginia Children’s Theatre), Footloose (Fordham University), Xanadu (The Rose Theater, Omaha). At NYU: Legally Blonde, Beauty and the Beast, Spelling Bee. Live Branded Entertainment: Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (Creative Production Coordinator), LEGOLAND New York (Character Director), At Norwegian Cruise Line as Theatrical Operations Manager: SIX (Broadway Replica Production), Burn The Floor. Character Attendant & Performer (Walt Disney World & SeaWorld Orlando’s Sesame Street Land). Education: New York University (‘20) - Bachelor’s in Educational Theatre. Inaugural Cohorts (‘21) of both Broadway For Racial Justice’s Casting Initiative & Baseline Theatrical’s Beyond the Stagedoor Management Program. Associate Member of SDC.

Alex Pollard – Music Director

Alex Pollard is thrilled to be music directing Mean Girls High School Version at the Dr. Phillips Center! Last summer he was music director for Bring It On, and most recently music directed The Wedding Singer at Boone High School. Alex is an Orlando native who has been part of the Orlando arts scene since his early teens. As a performer, he has performed in many operas and musicals. Alex has also sung on stages at Walt Disney World, including The Festival of the Lion King, and with The Voices of Liberty for both Americana and Candlelight Processional. Currently, he can be seen in the Orlando Symphonic Chorus, where he serves as the Bass Section Leader, and with The Solaria Singers, part of Orlando’s newest professional choral organization, Orlando Sings.

Alex received his bachelors and masters degree in Choral Music Education from The Florida State University. He is currently the Head Choir Director at Boone High School in Orlando, Fl. As an educator and music director, his choirs have received the highest ratings at district and state assessments. His choirs have also been invited to perform at multiple state choral conferences. Along with educating his students to be the best singers and performers they can be, he also mentors new and upcoming choir teachers. Musicals that he has music directed have received multiple nominations and awards through the Applause Awards at the Dr. Phillips Center. Some of his favorite music directing credits include, The Lightning Thief, Guys and Dolls, Mamma Mia and, Matilda.

Ellie Potts Barrett – Choreographer

Ellie Potts Barrett (Boston Conservatory/USF) prefers being on the production side of the stage after being on it. Professional dance - Mary Anthony (NYC); Boston Dance Company; Ina Hahn Modern Dance Company (Boston), national tours and theatrical productions, as well as the Ringling Brothers/Barnum & Bailey Circus. Internationally recognized, she loves to create dances, and has been doing so for many years for Theme Parks, Cruise Lines, Theatre Companies, Dance Companies and Universities around the world. Choreography includes - Modern Dance Concert works; Guys and Dolls, starring Davis Gaines for The Orlando Philharmonic as well as La Traviata; A Chorus Line/ Rent/Chicago/Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts; Urinetown,The Musical/Grease/Seven Brides for Seven Brothers at Seensee Musical Theatre Company/Seoul/South Korea; Film work - Lonely Hearts with Jared Leto and Salma Hayek. Residencies include Merce Cunningham, Meg Harper, Elizabeth Streb and Carl Hiaasen. She currently teaches Modern Dance, Musical Theatre Dance, Dance Composition, and Dance Aesthetics at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, as well as teaching Modern Dance at Orlando Ballet. She is a proud member of Actor’s Equity Association, the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, and is a founding member of the newly formed Choreographer’s Guild. Ellie is thrilled to be part of this amazing creative team for Mean Girls!
