The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time: November 1 – 6, 2016

Hailed as “One of the most fully immersive works ever to wallop Broadway” by The New York Times, this "dazzling" (Associated Press) adaptation is the Tony Award-winning new play by Simon Stephens, adapted from Mark Haddon’s best-selling novel and directed by Tony winner Marianne Elliott.

Fifteen-year-old Christopher has an extraordinary brain; he is exceptionally intelligent but ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. When he falls under suspicion for killing his neighbor’s dog, he sets out to identify the true culprit, which leads to an earth-shattering discovery and a journey that will change his life forever.

An American in Paris: December 13 – 18, 2016

An American in Paris is the new hit musical about an American soldier, a mysterious French girl and an indomitable European city, each yearning for a new beginning in the aftermath of war. Acclaimed director-choreographer and 2015 Tony Award-winner Christopher Wheldon brings the magic and romance of Paris into perfect harmony with Tony Award-winning orchestrations of unforgettable works from George and Ira Gershwin in the four-time Tony Award-winning production that earned more awards than any other musical in the 2014-2015 season!

A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder: February 7 – 12, 2017

The Little Mermaid: March 7 – 12, 2017

In a magical kingdom fathoms below, we meet Ariel, the little mermaid who is tired of flipping her fins and longs to be part of the fascinating world on dry land. Joining her are Sebastian, Ariel’s crabby sidekick; Ursula, the evil sea witch; Triton, King of the Sea and the handsome and human Prince Eric. Based on the Disney animated film and hit Broadway musical. Dive on in! Life is the bubbles, under the sea!

Matilda: May 9 – 14, 2017

Winner of 50 international awards, including four Tony Awards, Matilda The Musical is the story of an extraordinary girl who, armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, dares to take a stand and change her own destiny. Based on the beloved novel by Roald Dahl, Matilda continues to thrill soldout audiences of all ages on Broadway and in London’s West End. Finding Neverland: June 6 – 11, 2017

This breathtaking smash “captures the kid-at-heart” (Time Magazine). Vogue cheers, "it’s a must-see you’ll remember for years to come!” Directed by visionary Tony winner Diane Paulus, Finding Neverland tells the incredible story behind one of the world's most beloved characters: Peter Pan. Playwright J.M. Barrie struggles to find inspiration until he meets four young brothers and their beautiful widowed mother. Spellbound by the boys’ enchanting make-believe adventures, he sets out to write a play that will astound London theatergoers. With a little bit of pixie dust and a lot of faith, Barrie takes this monumental leap, leaving his old world behind for Neverland where nothing is impossible and the wonder of childhood lasts forever.

Wicked: January 11 – 29, 2017   *SEASON OPTION*

Back by popular demand! Variety calls Wicked "a cultural phenomenon,” and it continues to break box office records and sell out in record time. Winner of over 100 international awards, including a Grammy and three Tony Awards, Wicked is “Broadway’s biggest blockbuster” (The New York Times). Long before that girl from Kansas arrives in Munchkinland, two girls meet in the land of Oz. One—born with emerald green skin—is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. How these two grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good makes for "the most complete — and completely satisfying — new musical in a long time" (USA Today).

TheatreWorks Florida proudly presents the regional premiere of Rock Of Ages! Supported in part by the National Endowment for The Arts.

It’s the tail end of the big, bad 1980s in Hollywood, and the party has been raging hard. Aqua Net, Lycra, lace and liquor flow freely at one of the Sunset Strips' last legendary venues, a place where sex machine Stacee Jaxx takes the stage and scantily clad groupies line up to turn their fantasies into reality.

Amidst the madness, aspiring rock star (and resident toilet cleaner) Drew longs to take the stage as the next big thing (and longs for small-town girl Sherri, fresh off the bus from Kansas with stars in her eyes). But the rock and roll fairy-tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall.

Can Drew, Sherri and the gang save the strip - and themselves - before it's too late? Only the music of hit bands Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake and more hold the answer…

TheatreWorks Florida is a 501(c)3 Central Florida based, award-winning professional theatre company. They offer some of the finest new musicals available today as well as produce new, original works from area artists and artists from around the country.

Rock Of Ages is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.

PechaKucha Night is an entertainment event held several times a year in downtown Orlando. We feature an hour of PowerPoint presentations on a variety of topics, led by some of the most interesting people in the city.

Drawing its name from the Japanese term for "chitchat," PechaKucha rests on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds. It's a format that makes the presentations concise and keeps things moving at a rapid pace. Speakers present their PechaKuchas on any subject, from the personal to the public.

PechaKucha Night was devised in Tokyo, as a chance for creative people to meet, network, and share their work. Since its debut 12 years ago, it has turned into a massive celebration, with events in more than 800 cities around the world and audiences in the thousands. Orlando first began hosting PechaKucha Nights in October 2010, quickly gaining an enthusiastic following and sellout crowds.

PechaKucha is an opportunity to listen, learn, and engage... and unwrap the hidden brilliance of Orlando!

Know Before You Go

What is a composium? It's like a concert, plus a master class, plus a competition. It's informative, dramatic, and entirely thrilling. Witness an amazing afternoon of excitement, drama, and music.

Be sure and mark your calendar to hear the winning compositions by America's top young composers discussed, rehearsed, and conducted by Maestro Christopher Wilkins and performed by the orchestra.

In the first session the winning chamber ensemble compositions are performed by symphony musicians. Each composer is interviewed by Maestro Wilkins and comments are given by the judges and musicians.

After a brief intermission, the full orchestra session starts. The performance of each winning full-orchestra composition begins with an audio excerpt from the young composer's computer-generated MIDI score. Next, the composition is rehearsed, giving the composer an opportunity to interact with Maestro Wilkins, the orchestra musicians, and the judges. Each session ends with the final recorded performance of the composition.

Dress casually, bring the kids, and prepare to have your mind expanded. You will never listen to an orchestra performance in quite the same way again. Admission to the Composium is free.

RSVP here.

THE CHALLENGE

The National Young Composers Challenge is the top competition for young orchestral composers in the United States. The competition is open to young musicians ages 13 to 18 who are U.S. residents.

"Pride and Foolishness." Donizetti could have done just as well by titling his 69th opera, "Don Pasquale," by this simple description. To realize the most luscious of comedies to emerge from the first half of the 19th Century, Opera Orlando is proud to present one of the kings of the Opera Buffo style - Metropolitan Opera singer Peter Strummer. The bass-baritone has been lauded by the press for “giving a role maximum impact” and for his “warm, firm and agile voice.” Matched with veteran opera singer Dennis Jesse as the plotting puppet-master Malatesta and a stunning duo of emerging artists playing the young lovers Ernesto (David Margulis) and Norina (Bridgette Gan), be prepared for the belly to ache from laughter while the heart will be bathed in the beauty of "Bel Canto" - opera's Golden Age.

Winner of over 100 international awards, including a Grammy and three Tony Awards, Wicked is “Broadway’s biggest blockbuster” (The New York Times). The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. How these two grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good makes for "the most complete — and completely satisfying — new musical in a long time" (USA Today).

Dionne Warwick, one of the most successful female singer-songwriters of all time, will make this a Valentine's Day to remember.  Famous for hit songs such as Walk on By, Do You Know the Way to San Jose?, I Say a Little Prayer for You and Alfie, Warwick's winning partnership with Burt Bacharach and Hal David helped her become one of the world's greatest hit-makers.

Only the true greats get to contemplate precisely how to celebrate 50 years in the music business.  Dionne Warwick thought long and hard about how she should mark the five decades since her debut single, Don't Make Over in 1962. That song – written especially for her by the songwriting team of Bacharach and David – became a Top 40 hit on Billboard's Hot 100, sparking an incredible run of success that has seen her chart over 50 U.S. singles, win five Grammys® and sell one hundred million records.

Proceeds from the concert will benefit Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3282. Commenting on the engagement, Ms Warwick said, "It will be an honor to perform at such an auspicious benefit, especially one that raises so much money for the veterans, on Valentine’s Day."

Hailing from Utah, The Piano Guys became an Internet sensation by way of their immensely successful series of strikingly original self-made music videos. They’ve made over 35 since joining forces in early 2011, including their hit video, an innovative 10-handed version of One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful.” But it’s the Guys’ highly original blend of classical music with pop that has really been the cause of an Internet phenomenon that brought them to their major label self-titled debut album released on Sony Music Masterworks in 2012. This release was followed by their sophomore album, The Piano Guys 2, then A Family Christmas, Wonders, and recently released The Piano Guys Live! album.

Know Before You Go

Created by famed dance company Pilobolus, Shadowland is a first-of-its-kind performance combining legendary modern dance with high-energy, fast-paced multimedia, merging front-of-screen choreography with projected images and moving screens of different sizes and shapes.

Shadowland tells the story of a teenage girl, longing for her independence, with nowhere for her thoughts to go but to her dreams.  She sleeps, only to wake to something incredible lurking behind her bedroom wall – her shadow.  Walls spin, darkness swallows the girl, and she’s off on a journey into Shadowland.

Shadowland was conceived in collaboration with Steven Banks, lead writer for the playfully surreal animated series SpongeBob SquarePants, and is propelled by a rhythmic original score by the popular American musician, producer and film composer David Poe.  And, it is a signature Pilobolus presentation with the fluid logic of a dream, the grace of an acrobatic dance, the humor of a child, and the heart of a love story; it celebrates the strange and wonderful power of the dark to illuminate us in unexpected and utterly thrilling ways.
