Judson’s Live Celebrates Two Years as One of the World’s Leading Music Rooms
DownBeat Magazine Names Judson’s Live One of the World’s Greatest Jazz Venues
Orlando, FL – Judson’s Live at Dr. Phillips Center, an intimate live music venue in downtown Orlando, is celebrating its second anniversary. Since opening its doors, Judson’s Live has hosted 946 performances and welcomed more than 87,000 guests, cementing its reputation as a premier destination for local, regional and touring artists.
In just two years, Judson’s Live has earned national and local recognition for both its artistry and hospitality, including being named one of the World’s Greatest Jazz Venues by DownBeat Magazine, along with top honors for Best Live Music and Best Appetizers from Orlando Magazine. These accolades underscore the venue’s distinctive blend of world-class performances, elevated culinary offerings and intimate design.
Over its first two years, the music room has featured more than 34 musical genres, including jazz, blues, country, hip-hop, gospel, Broadway, Latin and big band. Judson’s Live offers a unique experience rooted in comfort, closeness and quality cuisine. With table-style seating for up to 140 guests, the venue provides an up-close-and-personal connection between artists and audiences.
“Our goal was to create an intimate space that connects and inspires our community — and Judson’s Live continues to embody that vision," said Kathy Ramsberger, president and CEO of Dr. Phillips Center. “As we celebrate two years, we’re proud of the artistic excellence that happens nightly in this room and excited for what’s ahead.”
Inspired by iconic listening rooms around the world, the bold cabaret-style concept was brought to life through the generosity of Joyce and Judson Green. Their passion for the performing arts led the way in naming the venue and further enhancing Dr. Phillips Center’s reputation among musicians and music audiences alike.
“It was our pleasure to support and see this project come to life,” said Joyce Green. “Judson’s Live holds a special place in my heart and reflects the love Judson and I shared for music and placemaking in our community. Two years later, seeing so many others embrace and enjoy the space is incredibly fulfilling.”
Open six nights a week, Judson’s Live has showcased 481 performances by Florida-based artists and 465 performances by touring artists, offering a dynamic mix of local voices and internationally acclaimed performers.
“Some venues are just stops on the tour, but Judson’s Live always feels like home” said Cece Teneal, an Orlando native who has performed in a remarkable 36 countries. “I am grateful to be a part of its story and proud to keep making memories on that stage.”
As the first performance space at the arts center to offer food and beverage service akin to a restaurant or lounge, Judson’s Live has elevated the guest experience with its culinary offerings, specialty events and thoughtfully curated menus.
The two-year anniversary celebration is highlighted by a special engagement from the Joshua Redman Quartet, performing February 5, with shows at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. each evening. A Grammy-nominated saxophonist, composer and bandleader, Redman returns to Judson’s Live in support of Words Fall Short, his bold new Blue Note release, joined by pianist Paul Cornish, bassist Philip Norris and drummer Nazir Ebo.
This Judson’s Live season is supported by Frances & Peter Weldon and Dr. Marc & Nancy Sharfman.
