Dr. Phillips Center Welcomes 850 Guests to First-Ever Touring Production of Harry Potter & the Cursed Child
Community Giveback initiative provides free access to six-time Tony Award-winning play during February run
Orlando, FL— Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts will welcome 850 Central Florida students, teachers and community groups to the first-ever touring production of the six-time Tony Award-winning play, Harry Potter & the Cursed Child.
From February 3–10, 26 community groups from across Central Florida will be fully immersed in the wizarding world through a series of magical experiences. The DeVos Family Room will be transformed into Hogwarts’ Great Hall, setting the stage for a memorable visit. Guests will enjoy a variety of activities ranging from a dialect masterclass for theater educators to an owl encounter provided by Falconry Adventures of Orlando.
"Since opening, we've welcomed over 66,000 guests through our community engagement initiatives," said Rachel Moalli, senior director of corporate affairs and community engagement at Dr. Phillips Center. "Each year, we reach farther to connect more communities to the arts — from City of Orlando to Orange and Osceola Counties and beyond, we’re opening doors so more people can experience the arts.”
On February 7, City of Orlando and Orange County Government elected officials from each district will come together to spotlight 16 schools and community organizations selected to participate in this special experience. The celebration continues February 10, with 200 Osceola County Schools students joining for the first time through a field trip to experience the magic of Broadway.
Guests will enjoy complimentary transportation provided by GoPegasus, a pre-show reception featuring trivia, ice cream provided by Kelly’s Ice Cream and a themed swag bag to take home. Through the Community Giveback initiative, Dr. Phillips Center works with donors and partners to provide special cultural experiences for audiences throughout Central Florida.
This community giveback is made possible by generous support provided by Bob Fleming & Molly Rose, City of Orlando, Florida Theatrical Association, GoPegasus, Jeff & Alexis Weltman, JP Morgan Chase, Kelly’s Ice Cream, Orange County Government, Sysco and WastePro.
