Student Spotlight: Kingston Moore
Kingston Moore is a passionate thirteen-year-old performer at Dr. Phillips Center’s AdventHealth School of the Arts. Whether he's in rehearsal or sitting in the audience, Kingston is right at home in the theater.
His journey at the arts center began in 2023 when he joined the Youth Theater Production of Matilda the Musical. Kingston recalls a moment on closing night, when he had the opportunity to fill in mid-show to play Bruce. “It was so exciting and nerve-wracking,” he recalls. “But I proved to myself that I could really do it.” From that moment on, he was hooked.
Since then, Kingston has jumped at every chance to be on stage—appearing in multiple Youth Theater Productions at Dr. Phillips Center, including A Christmas Story: The Musical and The Little Mermaid Jr. Each production has deepened his love and understanding of the craft.
In 2024, Kingston joined the Quarter Notes, a select group of middle school performers who meet weekly to sharpen their skills and grow together. Collaborating with this group has been integral to Kingston’s development in the performing arts.
Kingston credits the supportive environment at AdventHealth School of the Arts for helping him strive to be his best. With each performance and class, he feels his confidence grow—something he’s learned to carry into his everyday life. Being on stage allows him to be his most authentic self, both in and out of the theater.
Through balancing school, rehearsals and being with his family, Kingston has learned how valuable time-management skills are for a young performer. He is eager to continue growing and honing his skills, knowing he has much to learn but is ready and willing to absorb everything that comes his way.
