This fall, dive into the world of musical theatre. AdventHealth School of the Arts is the perfect place for students to grow as artists, build confidence, and make life-long memories. 

Four Counts at Dr. Phillips Center

Four Counts Prep

Grades 8-11 | Monday, 7 p.m.- 8:30 p.m.

This class is an opportunity for interested Four Counts students to strengthen their audition package! Throughout this 10 week course, students will have the opportunity to grow in their vocal, acting through song, and dance abilities by gaining exposure to styles similar to those featured in Four Counts. At the end of the semester, all students will have the opportunity to participate in a mock audition with Four Counts Artistic Director, Lauren Langa, to receive direct feedback on their current audition package to then continue to work on over the spring and summer semesters while preparing for their official audition in August.

Musical Theatre for Beginners at Dr. Phillips Center

Musical Theatre for Beginners!

Ages 6–8 | Tuesday, 5 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Let your imagination soar through dance, singing, and acting. Join us on a thrilling musical theatre adventure exploring dance choreography, vocal technique, and how to portray the characters of our favorite musicals! Become a triple threat through warm-ups, group activities, theatre games, and performance. This collaborative learning experience is perfect for a student's first performing arts class! This class will focus on performance technique.

Oh the Thinks You Can Think at Dr. Phillips Center

MUSICAL THEATRE: Oh, The Thinks You Can Think!

Ages 6–8 | Tuesday, 6:05 p.m. - 7:05 p.m.

In this whimsical introduction to musical theatre, young performers are invited to unlock the power of their imaginations and discover all the "thinks" they can think! Through playful acting exercises, engaging vocal warm-ups, and energetic, age-appropriate choreography, students explore the foundations of singing, acting, and dancing while building confidence, creativity, and teamwork. Inspired by the colorful world of Seussical and the beloved stories of Dr. Seuss, this class encourages big ideas, bold characters, and joyful self-expression. The experience culminates in a fun-filled performance where students bring their favorite Seussian characters and imaginative adventures to life on stage.

MUSICAL THEATRE: Technique

Ages 7–10 | Thursday 5 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Musical theatre combines songs, spoken dialogue and dance to tell a story and emotional content through words, music, choreography and staging. Confidence through self-expression, movement, acting and singing helps communicate the dramatic content of a musical. Through musical theater classes, students build on these skills while exploring the diverse works of popular Broadway shows. Our technique classes are designed for students who enjoy performing in local and school productions and want to continue their technique training. Dependent upon total enrollment, students will be evaluated on their first day and content will be designed after current technique levels can be adequately assessed.

Ages 11-14 | Thursday, 6:05 p.m. - 7:35 p.m.

Everything is possible, even the impossible! In this class, students integrate singing, dancing, and acting into one creative expression through songs, scene work, and choreography inspired by Mary Poppins. This collaborative learning experience introduces acting principles, vocal techniques, and engaging choreography while encouraging performers to develop confidence, creativity, and strong stage presence. The emphasis for this class is on strengthening technique and building proficiency in all three art forms that make up a modern musical. Students will then have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills by performing selections from Mary Poppins.

Madagascar Kids at Dr. Phillips Center

MUSICAL THEATRE: Madagascar Kids!

Ages 7–10 | Thursday, 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. & Saturday, 10:05 a.m. - 11:05 a.m. 

This class is an opportunity for students to be involved in a beginner level production complete with a basic set, costumes, and props! All registered students will be cast in this production and students will be slated in their respective roles by our second class. Join Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the hip-hop Hippo and, of course, those hilarious, plotting penguins as they bound onto your stage in the musical adventure of a lifetime.  Based on the smash DreamWorks animated motion picture, Madagascar – A Musical Adventure KIDS. follows all of your favorite crack-a-lackin’ friends as they escape from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar.

MUSICAL THEATRE: You've Got a Friend in Me

Ages 6–8 | Saturday, 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.

In this heartwarming introduction to musical theatre, young performers discover the magic of friendship, imagination, and adventure as they explore the foundations of singing, acting, and dancing. Through creative scene work, engaging vocal warm-ups, and fun, age-appropriate choreography, students build confidence, teamwork, and stage presence while bringing beloved toy-inspired characters to life. Inspired by the world of Toy Story, this class celebrates creativity, kindness, and the joy of working together. The experience culminates in an exciting performance where students take the stage to share unforgettable stories, lively musical numbers, and the reminder that every great adventure is better with a friend by your side.

Ages 11–14 | Saturday, 10:05 a.m. - 11:35 a.m.

Students integrate singing, dancing, and acting into one creative expression through songs, scene work, and dynamic choreography inspired by Newsies. This collaborative learning experience introduces acting principles, vocal techniques, and energetic musical theatre choreography. The emphasis for this class is on building confident proficiency in all three art forms that make up a modern musical while strengthening technique, storytelling, and ensemble performance skills. Students will then have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills by performing selections from Newsies.

Disney Channel Throwback Class at Dr. Phillips Center

MUSICAL THEATRE: Disney Channel Throwback

Ages 7–10 | Saturday, 11:10 a.m. - 12:10 p.m.

Get ready to sing, dance, and shine like your favorite Disney Channel stars in this high-energy introduction to musical theatre! Through exciting scene work, engaging vocal warm-ups, and fun, age-appropriate choreography, young performers explore the foundations of singing, acting, and dancing while building confidence, creativity, and teamwork. Inspired by iconic Disney Channel musicals like High School Musical, The Cheetah Girls, Camp Rock, and more, this class celebrates friendship, self-expression, and following your dreams. The experience culminates in a show-stopping performance where students light up the stage with unforgettable musical moments worthy of a Disney Channel premiere.
