Kate Pinkerton: Sarah Curtis

Actor

Born in Hamburg, Germany and raised in Kansas City, Mezzo-soprano Sarah Kathryn Curtis has been praised for her warm, flexible, and versatile voice. Examples of her work on the stage include the roles of Jo March (Little Women), Mrs. Grose (The Turn of the Screw), Giulio Cesare, Augusta Tabor (The Ballad of Baby Doe), Mistress Quickly (Falstaff), Zita (Gianni Schicchi), and the titular role in a concertized production of Carmen. Sarah has worked as a young artist with companies including Central City Opera, Des Moines Metro Opera, Portland Opera, Opera NEO (summer 2026), and Orlando Opera (2026-2027). In 2024-2025, Sarah was a Harriet Hale Wooley Fellow in Paris at the Fondation des États-Unis. As an artist-in-residence, Sarah’s performing focused on the art songs of female composers during the Belle Époque. As a graduate teaching assistant, Sarah completed degrees in vocal performance (MM, 2020 and DMA, 2023) at the University of Kansas under the tutelage of renowned mezzo-soprano Joyce Castle.
