Tenor Isaac Hurtado is acclaimed for a voice of burnished warmth and ringing brilliance, distinguished by its Italianate depth, vibrant squillo, and compelling stage presence. His repertoire centers on the core lyric and spinto tenor canon, with particular acclaim for performances as Don José (Carmen), Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Riccardo (Un ballo in maschera), Werther (Werther), Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Alfredo (La traviata), Rodolfo (La Bohème), Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), and Roméo (Roméo et Juliette).
During the 2025–26 season, Mr. Hurtado made several important company debuts, including Winter Opera St. Louis as Riccardo in Un ballo in maschera, Opera Tampa as Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, and Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly with Maryland Opera, plus appearances as Alfredo in La traviata with the Orquesta Filarmónica del Estado de Chihuahua in Mexico, and an engagement with Opera Las Vegas as tenor soloist in Passion for Puccini. Recent seasons include Alfredo in La traviata with Opera Idaho, Don José in Carmen with Washington Opera Society, Utah Opera and Opera Southwest, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly with Teatro Lírico d’Europa, The Prince in Rusalka with Opera Orlando, and a featured appearance in the Tutto Verdi Gala with the Orquesta Filarmónica del Estado de Chihuahua. He also made his Carnegie Hall solo debut, singing the tenor solos in Nunes Garcia’s Missa de Requiem with the New England Symphonic Ensemble.
Mr. Hurtado spent two seasons as Principal Artist in Residence with Opera San José, debuting seven leading roles. He received his young artist training with Central City Opera, Opera North, and Utah Festival Opera, and holds music degrees in voice from Florida State University, the University of Cincinnati College–Conservatory of Music, and Brigham Young University.
