Student Spotlight: Madeline Corker

Student Spotlight: Madeline Corker

From the moment she first got involved in 2024 at Dr. Phillips Center’s AdventHealth School of the Arts, 12-year-old Madeline discovered a love for performing. Since then, she has taken eight classes (and counting) to continue exploring that passion.

In 2025, Madeline joined the Quarter Notes, a select group of middle school performers who meet weekly to sharpen their skills and grow together. It has become her favorite program, with opportunities to perform in parades and community events while proudly representing Dr. Phillips Center.

“Our teachers and instructors do so much to encourage us and help us grow as performers,” Madeline says. “My confidence has grown a ton and now, I feel comfortable when I am on stage. The performing arts have helped me express myself and be proud of who I am.”

One of her favorite things about being a student at Dr. Phillips Center’s AdventHealth School of the Arts is the freedom to express herself through song, dance and acting. While she enjoys all aspects of performing, acting holds a special place in her heart because it allows her to explore a wide range of emotions on stage.

Her favorite memory so far? Playing the role of Genie in a production of Aladdin Kids. The role gave her the chance to make audiences laugh, build confidence and truly

Madeline says that each class brings a different experience that helps expand her appreciation for the performing arts. “Being part of all these programs has broadened my love for different types of musicals, dramas and other genres of the arts,” she shares. Looking ahead, Madeline is excited to continue developing her skills—especially her singing. “I want to learn new techniques and become the best singer I can be!” she says.

Stories like Madeline’s show how the arts can inspire confidence, creativity and lifelong passion. Dr. Phillips Center’s AdventHealth School of the Arts offers a variety of opportunities for all ages—from drop-ins to full-semester classes in music, theatre and dance. With classes for every age and experience, there’s a place for everyone to express themselves and grow.
