Student Spotlight: Olivia Hill
For 12-year-old Olivia Hill, the stage is her happy place and Dr. Phillips Center’s AdventHealth School of the Arts feels like her second home. From summer camps to Youth Theatre Productions, Olivia’s passion for the performing arts continues to grow with every new experience.
Olivia’s love for theatre began early. Since she was just four years old, attending The Nutcracker has been a cherished family tradition, and one that sparked her curiosity for live performance. That passion only deepened when she participated in Take It From the Top summer camp in 2024; “It was an epic experience,” Olivia recalls. “I was so excited to learn from industry experts and honored to get a solo in the final performance.”
She followed that feeling and auditioned to be part of the Quarter Notes, a select group of middle school performers who meet weekly to learn, collaborate and grow together. “I get to act, sing and dance — my 3 favorite things— with industry experts and friends. What could be better than that?” she shares.
One of Olivia’s favorite parts of performing is stepping into a new character and getting a few laughs from the audience. She recently got to do that in the Youth Theatre Production of Seussical TYA, a program that helps young artists explore the many facets of the live entertainment industry. “I love seeing people in the audience smiling and enjoying the performance,” she says.
Olivia’s love for the arts and the confidence she’s built through these programs inspired her to audition for a performing arts middle school, where she can continue surrounding herself in the arts.
Outside of rehearsals or attending a show, the arts are always in her heart. “I think my parents would say being part of the performing arts has impacted my home life by causing me to burst out into song…and dance…always!” she laughs.
